Here is the trailer for the 1965 comedy in which Bob Hope plays Bob Holcomb (hint, hint, a variation of himself) a widower raising his teenage daugther JoJo (Tuesday Weld) who finds himself taking drastic measures trying to stop her from marrying her singing, beach-bum boyfriend Kenny Klinger (Frankie Avalon). Bob decides to accept a business transfer to Sweden in hopes that JoJo will forget Kenny. But once settled in this new country, JoJo becomes involved with Swedish playboy Erik Carlson (Jeremy Slate), who has less than honorable intentions toward JoJo (he wants to "get to know her" but not marry her), and Bob is at first distracted by his own romance with divorcee Karin Granstedt (Dina Merrill), but when he realizes what Erik is up to, he swallows his pride and brings Kenny to break things up. Of course, things don't go as planned at first but there are some comic mishaps, songs sung by Frankie, and a happy ending. As typical of the time, the cast and crew did not set foot in Sweden - the film was shot both at the studio and at locations like Lake Arrowhead, with a few stock shots of Stockholm for backgrounds. But this is still a fun comedy viewed as the time capsule that it is.

Fun fact: Tuesday Weld and Dina Merrill are third cousins. Tuesday's two-time costar Anthony Perkins was also her third cousin.

The trailer is showing quite a bit of wear (my apologies for that) but on the DVD the film itself is presented in 1.66:1 widescreen and it looks great for a film that was made 47 years ago.

Enjoy!
