Short description
The webinar is focused on obtaining knowledge on childhood-onset SLE (cSLE). This is a more severe disease than adult onset SLE. Most children present in puberty, which makes it even a more challenging disease to manage. The audience will get insight in what it means for children to have cSLE, what outcome these patients face in adult life and how best to manage them throughout their lifetime.

Dr Sylvia Kamphuis, MD, PhD is an Associate Professor and Pediatric Rheumatologist/Immunologist.
Dr Sylvia Kamphuis obtained her medical degree at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She specialized in Pediatrics with the sub specialism Rheumatology/Immunology at the University Medical Centre in Utrecht and simultaneously obtained a PhD in cellular immunology. Her current research focus is on SLE. She coordinates several (inter) national studies for childhood lupus including the Dutch national cSLE cohort study and translational studies focusing on the role of type 1 Interferon on SLE.
Dr Kamphuis is the chair of the Dutch association for Pediatric Rheumatology, chair of the european working party for childhood lupus, steering committee member of the JIRcohort research network and member of the international taskforce for treat to target strategies in cSLE.
