VA Rating Reevaluations: Everything You Need to Know About Routine Future Examinations

Описание к видео VA Rating Reevaluations: Everything You Need to Know About Routine Future Examinations

VA rating reevaluations are a part of the benefits process that can help veterans manage their service-connected disabilities. Routine Future Examinations (RFEs) were created by the Department of Veterans Affairs to help ensure veterans receive fair and accurate disability ratings. But just what are RFEs? How often are they conducted? And why is it important for veterans to understand them?

As a veteran, you may be aware that VA will typically conduct an initial evaluation to determine your eligibility for disability benefits, and assign a disability rating accordingly. However, this rating is not permanent; it can change over time as your condition or circumstances change. To ensure that veterans are receiving the correct amount of benefits, VA conducts regular reevaluations to reassess disability ratings.

When Does VA Reevaluate Your Service-Connected Disability?

VA usually reevaluates veterans' service-connected disabilities on two occasions: Six months after leaving military service; and between two and five years from the date of the decision to grant VA disability benefits. However, depending on your individual circumstances, you may be required to receive a reevaluation at any point during your benefit period. This can include when your medical condition changes or if you are involved in activities that could have an effect on your mental or physical health.
