Stove Top Hand Crank Popcorn Popper - How Does It Work?

Описание к видео Stove Top Hand Crank Popcorn Popper - How Does It Work?

How this ended up being an hour long is still uncertain to me. I was going to make a batch or two and that would be the video. For whatever reason this popper turned out to be more of a challenge. For one, the directions were less than precise. Use 2 or 3 tablespoons of oil and 1/2 a cup of popcorn. Normally I put a layer of oil on the bottom of my pot and add 1 cup of popcorn kernels. I have made 100's of batches like that with the pot you saw in the video! I think the design of the pot and the type of burner did not make a good combination. When I used my pot, it worked fine and made popcorn just like I would on the stove. As it turned out, I thought about it in bed :) Then realized I had to try it on a regular gas flame stove. Sure enough, it worked great! I did want to say I had to edit down many of the scenes to shorten the popcorn time, so if you noticed an edit, that is why. The strange part is the popcorn on the stove was not as crispy as the popcorn on the small burner! Boy is this all confusing. I ended having friends with kids over the next day and most of the popcorn was eaten.

Here is my summation of what happened after thinking about it a little more 8/31/2020

I'm thinking now that the raised section in the middle of the pot, allowed the paddle to keep moving the kernels to the outside edge. This way no kernels sit in the middle. It is raised so the oil stays on the outside edge and the kernels keep getting moved into the oil by spinning the handle. My burner might have been a wee bit small to heat just the outside edge, where as my pot was touching the entire burner surface and allowing the heat to cover the entire bottom :) I think that sums it up for a 50 minute video!
