Zelda 1 (NES) Speedrun TDO Glitchless

Whoa! A massive 2 minute and 25 second PB since my last posting for my first ever sub 40:30 in TDO Glitchless! I also had a PB of 41 flat and 40:54 previously.

Had a solid Level 1, but Level 2 could have been better because the last Goriya was slippery and kept missing him. Pay attention to that last sentence as this became a theme in my run! Thankfully, a perfect Dodongo meant I was saving time from my PB.

Peahats and Tektites on the way to the 100 Rupee secret were being mean, too! Gold split on Level 3 in spite of a so-so Manhandla fight and not a gold split on Level 4 in spite of a great Breakfast room and having beam sword for Gleeok! How do you explain that one?

Level 5 was pretty solid, but more jukes from a Gibdo made my health situation a bit iffy, but I had no trouble surviving. And the enemies were still not done with the jukes! Peahats got to me twice after I bought the expensive bait at "the forgotten spot.

Level 6 was good except for a relatively slow Magical Breakfast room because of those Effin' Bubbles!

This run nearly died on the way to Level 7, but a generous bomb drop from the Blue Moblins saved it, but not before Blue Octoroks did even more juking from my beam sword during the grind! Because of that, I lost time in Level 7, but that was to be expected since I'm running up against a gold split.

Again, got saved with bomb luck by a Blue Octorok prior to entering Level 8. That level was decent, but the last two Blue Darknuts in Blue Lagoon 2 were being slippery, which again, was the theme of tonight's run!

Level 9 was extremely good, except for Patra 1 because I didn't have the bombs to skip him and I ended up hitting the eye which kept him in the expanded state. However, Patra 2 was quite good and it's always nice when the Bubbles stay away from you in Reverse C. The best part about Level 9, though, was that Patra 3 fight. It was about as textbook as they come! I topped off this fantastic run with a perfect Ganon fight and that secured the sub 40:30!

I was so pleased about this PB considering how poorly I played last Sunday! My next and possibly final goal in this category will be sub 40.
