Neil Young Archives Volume 3 (1976-1987) hi-res downloading issues (part 1)

Описание к видео Neil Young Archives Volume 3 (1976-1987) hi-res downloading issues (part 1)

So you have a nifty computer, a speedy Internet connection, and a download code for the latest Neil Young Archives box set. Shouldn't be a problem to get awesome music quickly into your ears, right? Hold on, please. If you're having issues downloading the box set's hi-res files, you're not alone: I have years of experience downloading legal hi-res downloads off the Internet from sites such as Super HiRez (now defunct), ProStudioMasters.com, would you believe 7Digital (dunno if they still have hi-res downloads for purchase), one or two DSD websites, and even the Pono store, back in the day (not sure if I ever bought anything from HDSounds)... and I'm STILL having many issues downloading what should be a swift, "Download All" experience. While getting frustrated at this unusually lengthy process I've undertaken at downloading legally acquired soundfiles into my external hard drive, I suddenly had the urge to start documenting everything. With this in mind, I loaded up Quicktime Video and got to it.

In this first of (at least) two videos, I show you why you SHOULDN'T hit that "Download All" button, and then unpack audio issues which occur in certain files even when they're completely and properly downloaded, and I offer a workaround solution on how to correct those downloads (until the people at the Neil Young Archives webstore replace the defective files in question with correct ones) by downloading multiple file formats and replacing audio in Audacity, a free audio editing program available online. Yes, the video is long (but nowhere near the long day I've had doing this... and I've only successfully downloaded 3 of the 10 CDs' worth of recordings this far!). Hopefully your download experience goes more smoothly than mine.
