Somalia - US & Italian Troops Arrive In Mogadishu

(27 Feb 1995) T/I: A party of US. and Italian troops arrived on the beach off Mogadishu in Somalia on Monday (27/2) to help the remaining 2,400 Pakistani and Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers withdraw from the war-torn country. About 2,000 American and Italian Marines will go ashore in the next few days. On Sunday, clans battled each other with mortars, machine guns and light arms near Mogadishu's airport, in a possible preview of Somalia's future.
