The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) brought back 100 tonnes, or 1 lakh kg, of gold from Britain. This is the first time since 1991 that such a large amount of gold has been brought back home. Let us tell you how much gold is in the treasury of RBI. By the end of March 2024, RBI had a total of 822.1 tonnes of gold, out of which 413.8 tonnes were deposited abroad. Gold is a very precious metal, so a complete plan was made to bring 100 tonnes of gold, let us explain it in three points. First point, months of planning was done to bring gold to India. It includes the Ministry of Finance, RBI and many wings of the government along with local authorities. Second point, special aircraft were used to bring gold. Third point, within our country, gold is kept in the old building of RBI on Mint Road in Mumbai.
