Padum - Zangla | Single road | Excellent (Newly built)
Zangla - Lingshed | Single narrow lane (off road) | Bad (a stretch of 5 km with almost a 45 degree incline leading up to the top is toughest to cross)
Lingshed – Wanla | Single road (off road) | Average (Have to cross two high altitude passes)
Wanla – Lamayuru | Single road | Good

Today was 11th day of our Ladakh road trip and we had to drive towards Leh. The typical route to Leh was via Kargil but I had taken the same route to reach Padum and this time I decided to take a new route which was opened by BRO last year. The first 35 kms towards Zangla was a complete butter smooth drive. After Zangla till Lingshed village came the toughest stretch which almost had a 45 degree incline in some parts. To add to the trouble the incline is muddy so vehicles lose traction here. The same thing happened with me but somehow, I was able to clear the stretch in my 3rd attempt. The complete stretch was isolated and if you are stuck you may not find any help till miles. After reaching the top near Lingshed village the road condition improves but still till Wanla off roading continues. In this part we crossed two high passed namely Singe la pass and Sirsir la pass and a village named Photoksar. Between Zangla and Wanla you only get mobile network while crossing Photoksar and Lingshed village and you wont find any facilities in route except for a small road side dhaba before Singe la pass.
