Improving vocational skills training

#Research from the ESRC Centre in #Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance (SKOPE) has identified key characteristics for successful participants in vocational #training. The #researchers collaborated with the National #Apprenticeship Service to develop vocational excellence, improving the UK selection process for the WorldSkills Competition.

There has been much criticism of the UK vocational educational and training system - but what about #vocational excellence? In this video, Susan James, the Assistant Director of SKOPE, alongside others, describes how the WorldSkills competition is helping to see if we can develop vocational excellence.

The data found that those who excel have higher intrinsic motivation, and that training young people to build on their confidence is just as important for success.

The researchers hope that the project will persuade influential people that there is an important way of helping social mobility and growing a healthier economy - and that's revitalising the vocational route. Watch the video to learn more.
