SIGHT & SOUND Interview with John Primer - Episode 1

Описание к видео SIGHT & SOUND Interview with John Primer - Episode 1

Here is an incredible interview with legendary blues musician, John Primer, who has been playing the blues with Muddy Waters as his last guitarist and has played with other blues legends like Buddy Guy, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, B.B. King and so many more. I first met John Primer the night before I played Summerfest in 2019. I flew into Chicago in hopes I could find a real Chicago bluesman and so I headed to Chicago Blues, a famous blues club that is no longer around and I was mesmerized to hear John Primer's voice, songs, guitar playing and soul. It floored me. On his set break, I had to introduce myself and he was so incredibly kind. He told me then he was Muddy's last guitarist and then invited me to sit in with him on his 2nd set. I went back in and heard him play his first song and was mortified to sit in with him so I snuck out and headed back to my hotel.

Five years later, I made sure we could get this chance to jam and document it on film when I came up with the idea for this show: to put a spotlight on so many incredible musicians you may not know about. John Primer was the first person I thought about asking to be a guest because there is no one more deserving because of all the people he has played with and his immense talent and soul as a blues guitarist, singer and songwriter. When he got out of the car when we first met on the day of this shoot, he said, "I met you 5 years ago outside of Chicago Blues and asked you to sit in with me, but then I couldn't find you." I started laughing right away and finally told him I was afraid to sit in with such a musical powerhouse, but that we would finally have our chance at the studio on this day. Interviewing John was nothing short of spectacular. I could do a 10 hour interview with him, but I wanted to make sure we kept these interviews short and sweet so we keep you all captivated. What an amazing experience it was to jam with him and hear his story. Hope you all learn so much about this unbelievable blues phenomenon that is John Primer.
