After Ankara Castle and a late lunch (3pm), I made my way southward towards Kızılay. My only noted destination for the rest of the day was Kocatepe Camii, the biggest mosque and a prominent landmark of Ankara. Other than that, I would just take in the lively atmosphere along a few streets in downtown Kızılay. It had been a long, fulfilling day for me. I really enjoyed the old quarter of Ankara.

The Kocatepe Mosque (Turkish: Kocatepe Camii) is the largest mosque in Ankara, Turkey. It was built between 1967 and 1987 in the Kocatepe quarter in Kızılay, and its size and prominent location have made it a landmark that can be seen from almost anywhere in central Ankara.

Selanik and Yuksel cd are two of the popular shopping streets in downtown Kizilay.
From souvenirs to luxury goods and high street fashions to items for the home, the Kızılay district is where many in Ankara come to shop. Recognized as the heart of the city, it is one of Ankara's most crowded shopping areas, a lively place with an energetic ambience.
