Mid-Size TV Dish Modified For Geostationary Weather Satellites

Описание к видео Mid-Size TV Dish Modified For Geostationary Weather Satellites

People often ask if they can do anything with a modern TV dish, the small kind with the offset feed that you find on may rooftops these days. While most of these are too small to do much beyond commercial television, the slightly larger ones are a little more capable. I recently got ahold of a ~40" Channel Master dish, and swapped out the Ku Band LNB for a cheap L-band feed antenna. This lets me pick up the GOES-East satellite that sends down weather images and data 25/7. While I won't be using this particular dish permanently, it was a fun and quick experiment.

I've previously done this with a smaller TV dish, but I had to make the reflector bigger with cardboard and foil tape, so it wasn't permanent! That video is here:    • Satellite Ground Station With Trash, ...

I'm using a Software Defined Radio (SDR) and a filter/amplifier tuned for this and other weather satellites. You can find them at the links below (I get a small cut as an Amazon affiliate, so it helps the channel!)
