Ingredients for mutton and samp and beans:
3 cups of samp
1cup of beans
Both boiled together
1kg of lamb cut and washed
4heaped tablespoons of kashmir masala.
1 heaped teaspoon turmeric powder
1teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons of heaped ground ginger and garlic
1onion sliced
1 stem of curry leaves
3 bay leaves
I cinnamon stick
3 cloves
And add a little black pepper


Samp is a maize-derived South African staple and combined with beans makes for a nutritious meal. Adding the fatty cuts of lamb meat elevates the meal to a whole new level of deliciousness!

Samp & Mutton is one of the many favorites prepared in South Africa. This dish is ideal for cold weather days, especially during Winter. This Samp & Mutton is a meal that is sure to warm you up.

Ideally, this dish is prepared just as you would a Mutton Curry but without the potatoes! Instead of the potatoes, samp & beans are added to give you a soup-like dish.

What is samp?
Samp is actually kernels of corn that have been roughly cracked. During the cracking process, the outer layer of the kernels is removed, leaving behind the tender inner layer which when cooked becomes soft & fluffy.

The history of this dish:
The traditional preparation of this dish includes beans such as red speckled beans, sugar beans (pinto beans), or jugo beans (Zulu nut). Of course, all the beans may added together if you prefer.
By no means do you have to use these as many people today just use the samp and beans in the can, which is still perfectly fine to use
