Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell predicts which three new teams could join the NRL.

Mr Clennell’s remarks come after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese welcomed Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape into Parliament House, where the PM mentioned the possibility of a PNG team “very deliberately”.

“Clearly he believes it’s happening,” Mr Clennell said.

“I’ve asked around – they’re looking at three new teams in the NRL.

“If you have three in as opposed to two in, you wouldn’t need the bye.

“So PNG, North Sydney, maybe another one in Queensland – I think they should have a WA team.”
