Trains at Glasgow Central - 16/07/2024

Filmed on 16/07/2024. From the northern terminus of the East Coast Mainline, to the West Coast Mainline. And its main northern terminus station of Glasgow Central. (Season 11 Episode 15)

The first visit since 2018 and almost forgotten on just how busy this station is. But, it does also see some of the oldest units in the ScotRail fleet and some of the rarest units in service today. Such as the class 318's which ScotRail is the only train operator to use them in service and the class 320's. Some of which are former London Midland class 319's converted into class 320's.


Whilst it has been a nice sunny day in Scotland, in Northern England, there must have been quite some severe weather which impacted the North West. Avanti West Coast and Transpennine Express didn't run services between Carlisle/Preston to London Euston and Liverpool Lime Street due to flooding. Rail replacement buses had to be in force to continue onwards the journey.

It is also Desiro Central as ScotRail are the only train operator to use the class 380 Desiro units which replaced on what the withdrawn class 314's on what services they used to work on. During the morning and evening peak services, ScotRail operates a circular route service which starts and terminates at Glasgow Central which runs via Crosshill.
