Описание к видео The Story of Italy's Masterpiece Bus: Transport to the City of Wonders [Italian Bus History]

In 1961, Turin, Italy was to hold a great world's fair. It was to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the unification of Italy. But, a new bus was needed to transport visitors to the "City of Wonders" that was to be built as part of the fair.

Turins' transport company, ATM, put out a request for 12 high-capacity buses that were quite innovative and were like no other double-decker buses.

The result was the Fiat Viberti Monotral CV61 - a masterpiece of buses of its era.

The buses became an iconic symbol of the fair and generated a lot of interesting.

After the fair, they were used in city services on line 64 in Turin, and then as transport for factory workers to the Fiat factory near the city.

In 1985, the buses were retired, and all were scrapped, except for buses number 2002 and 2006. In 2010, one of the buses, No. 2002, underwent a restoration using parts from bus 2006. In 2011, the restoration was complete, and is now used for special services mostly in the Turin area.
