Octavia Spencer and Melissa McCarthy presented the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay to "American Fiction."

Writer and director Cord Jefferson accepted the award and talked about risk-taking in Hollywood productions, adding: "The next Christopher Nolan is out there, I promise you, they just want a shot."
