Part 4 of a Day in the Life of Albino elephant calf Khanyisa and the Jabulani HERD

Описание к видео Part 4 of a Day in the Life of Albino elephant calf Khanyisa and the Jabulani HERD

In Part 4 of a day in the life of Khanyisa and the Jabulani Herd, it would have been great to have shared the herd swimming with Khanyisa. BUT Sebakwe and Somopane had plans of their own and decided to head out after the wild herd of elephants.

This left the rest of the herd very unsettled and restless, and they decided not to swim, but rather keep very close to Khanyisa, circling around her protectively due to having fewer males in their company. Jabulani did, however, take the lead and make his presence known around the females.

Adine shares a fascinating scene where the elephants gently rest their trunks on the ground. This is to detect vibrations in the earth - another form of communication that they have between one another via low-frequency calls that generate seismic signals that elephants can feel via their trunks (and feet). You can read more about that here: https://herd.org.za/khanyisas-big-feet/

There is a lot of interesting info that Adine shares in the video that we hope you will enjoy. Let us know which part you enjoyed best!

Stay tuned for part 5, the final part tomorrow!
