In this audio-visual account, I explain the driving force behind my new book, The Culture Trap: Ethnic Expectations and Unequal Schooling for Black Youth (Oxford University Press, 2023). I point out what led me to write this book, what I found after years of research, and why cultural factors and structural forces matter for Black youth in schools and society.
