1969 Midway S.A.M.I. arcade game, considered one of the premier old school games. SAMI stands for surface to air missile interceptor. the video starts with the glass on, but later it has the glass removed for clarity. in the video, it almost looks like its a monitor, but its actually about 3ft deep, you get the illusion the planes are flying toward you from a distance. it works with a projector and a film loop, projecting the planes on to the back of an opaque screen. the film loop is synced to a mechanical unit that registers if its a hit or a miss. its all relays and motors, no computers or other solid state devices. its genius. after firing a missile, you can still guide it a bit, to zero on to the target. i played the crap out of these when i was a kid, i'm 53 now and still enjoy it . it also has adjustments for easy, medium ,and difficult. its set on easy right now :) .

thanks to youtube, it was pointed out to me the missile should also have a sound. i didnt know that, and after adjusting the pots on the sound unit, i now have all 3 sounds. thats why i post this stuff, its very helpful , not just to me, but anyone who might not know how a game is supposed to work.
