Roland SC-55 Repair: Front Switches

Описание к видео Roland SC-55 Repair: Front Switches

My SC-55 is being uncooperative and doesn't want to do what I tell it. But it's not its fault, it just needs new switches!

Aside from how roughed up my example here is which made this a slightly longer video, this is a fairly easy repair. If you need to do this yourself, here is the part I used for the switch replacement:

Switches - PTS645SM50TR: https://www.arrow.com/en/products/pts...

They've worked out fine and I don't have any problems with them.

I bet I'm going to get flack for at least two things in this video so I'll try to respond to them here:

1. The music at the begining sucked.
It was supposed to be E1M8 (   • DooM Music - Sign Of Evil [e1m8] [HQ]  ). I was trying to balance the amount of time I put into recording it and moving on to getting the repair done. The SC-55 also lacks a metronome which would have made it easier to keep time. I should probably get a standalone one (Yes, I know I could use my phone).

2. You should have cleaned up the SC-55 more
This unit was probably used on the road for shows. It didn't sit on a shelf connected to a computer all day. It has battle scars, it has modifications, it is irreversibly damaged. I could argue that I'm preserving the history of the origin of this unit, but really it's just never going to be right. Out side of repainting it like I said, it's never going to look good. And even then, the rear label is all scratched up. Honestly, my time isn't worth all that work. If I want a perfect condition one, I'll buy one.
