This was a late afternoon Friday visit to Stafford station, lasting about 2 hours, followed by a stop off at Rugby for about 20 minutes.

Of course, back in 1988, Class 86s and 87s were commonplace on the loco-hauled inter-city passenger services, but these were mixed with fairly frequent freight trains. Included here are double Class 20s, a few Class 47s a Class 31 and Class 81.
