It’s Easter bank holiday on the street and the residents have different plans for the day. Linda (Anne Cunningham) and Ivan (Ernst Walder) put their names down for No.9, Dennis (Philip Lowrie) surprises his family with the news of a solo singing gig at the Orinoco Club and Frank (Frank Pemberton), Ida (Noel Dyson), Esther (Daphne Oxenford), Florrie (Betty Alberge) and Albert (Jack Howarth) go on a charabanc trip to Lake Windermere. Lucille (Jennifer Moss) is pleased when her aunt Alice (Avis Bunnage) refuses to go to Belle Vue with her and Harry (Ivan Beavis). Later when Alice complains about Harry’s whippets he confides in Len (Peter Adamson) that he's thinking of getting rid of them and a cowardly Swindley (Arthur Lowe) butters up Miss Nugent (Eileen Derbyshire) then lands her with the unenviable task of informing Ena (Violet Carson) that the committee have decided to sack her from the Mission…
