Jack Swagger challenged Christian for the ECW Title at Judgment Day 2009. At the end, Christian pulled down Swagger’s straps, rolled him over while holding his straps and pinned him to retain the title. On ECW, Swagger protested the result of the match, Tiffany came out and told him he won’t get a shot at the title if he doesn’t leave. Christian came out for his match and Swagger pushed him off the stage. Christian issued a challenge to Tommy Dreamer because his contract is expiring. Dreamer accepted the challenge. A week later, Christian called out Swagger. He came out and then told him Tiffany gave him a match for the title against him. Tiffany came out and said it’s a triple threat match and Dreamer came out. Then Dreamer started dancing while Tiffany announced it’s a hardcore match. Dreamer mocked both of them, then threw Swagger outside and then Christian too. They finally met at Extreme Rules. Dreamer jumped outside on them. Christian dropkicked Swagger then threw Dreamer into him. Swagger took down the turnbuckle but Dreamer hit him. Then Dreamer fell onto some garbage cans. Dreamer hit Swagger with a crutch, then hit his head with it, hit him with a DDT and pinned him to become the new ECW Champion.
