Are you afraid of public speaking? Don’t worry, everyone is. From a notoriously shy girl to competing as a national team debater in high school to this first TEDx talk, this talk walks you through Panhchakpor Pen's life-changing journey of overcoming a fear that is larger than the fear of death: Glossophobia— the fear of public speaking. This talk is more than just a how-to overcome your own fear of public speaking. It is a personal transformative story of how her fear of public speaking was initially the literal anxieties of speaking in front of a huge audience, but it eventually evolved into an increasing fear of disappointment, perfectionism, and failure, the more she tackled new challenges in public speaking. However, this ongoing wall-climb unfolded a profound realisation that this fear can first be conquered when acknowledging that public speaking is a skill that can be learned. It’s about pushing boundaries and consistently embracing uncomfortable challenges that help develop personal growth beyond public speaking. Panhchakpor Pen is a BOSC 2 student from Cambodia. Currently, she is a student ambassador and is actively participating in numerous projects focused on hospitality and vocational education, which is where her passions lie. She hopes to give insight into overcoming one's fear of public speaker, from the perspective of a notoriously shy girl who would go on to compete on the Cambodian National Debate Team in high school, to now have her first TEDx talk. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
