Gravitational Potential Energy and Potential | in HINDI

In this Physics (Gravitation) video lecture in Hindi for class 11 we explained gravitational potential and potential energy. The gravitational potential energy is the energy stored due to positions of two masses. This energy can be converted into kinetic energy. The gravitational potential at a point is defined as the potential energy per unit mass at that point and this quantity is fixed for a point. The potential energy of a system when seperated by infinite distance is considered as zero, so potential energy of any practical system is always negative. While deriving the formula we saw that the gravitational potential energy of a system of masses (m1 and m1 seperated by distance r) is - G . m1 . m2 / r and the gravitational potential at any point r distance away from the centre of a mass M is - G . M / r.
Work done in bringing a mass m situated r distance from the centre of mass M to infinity is G . m . M / r.
