FFVIII Rosetta Stone Farming - Method A

Описание к видео FFVIII Rosetta Stone Farming - Method A

A second video for winning Rosetta Stones, this one using a more realistically possible method of RNG advancement at this stage in the game. So no disc 2 Dollet save needed to do this strategy. Most of this is copypasta from the last one:

A guaranteed way to meet all your Rosetta Stone needs. Because of a recently discovered exploit (first pointed out by ForteGSOmega) in the card RNG it was found that you could abolish rules on your first try with a little preparation. (If I get any requests I might cover this in another video).

Mr Hangman noticed that the same RNG was used in the determination of the items you receive from the card players in D-District Prison. He attempted a guide based on knowing how far you were in the RNG by what items you won but due to another unknown RNG this strategy would only work on his file.

With a table set up by Dirjel I was able to tell how much the RNG advanced from a certain path to the 200 gil card player in D-District Prison. Link to table here: ( http://tinyurl.com/FFVIIICardRNG )

Knowing this number we can set up the RNG so that the item you receive from the '200 gil player' on floor 11 of District-D Prison will be a Rosetta Stone every single time. From a practical standpoint that basically means the 4x ability on all 3 players an hour into disc 2 with minimal effort.

This video shows one way I found to manipulate the RNG for infinite Rosetta Stones that I've used with a lot of success. However keep in mind this way only works if you follow the path set out in it very closely (you have something like half a second leeway on either side).

You can just watch the video and try and replicate it, but you will probably follow the path slightly off-key, rendering the process futile. To make sure you get your Rosetta Stones as quickly as possible I will explain this somewhat annoyingly complicated procedure in depth:

Note: If you do not have enc-none at this point, you will need to learn it before going to retrieve Squall. If you do not have Diablos yet well... fight him. If you do not have the magical lamp or Diablos... I guess restart lol :S

1) Hard reset
2) Load up a save in D-District Prison 10th floor (this method uses one right after you got your weapons back from the guards and before you chased the Moombas up the prison to meet up with Squall).
3) Exit the room (timing in this room does not matter).
4) Hold left as screen loads and then change to holding up to walk up the stairs as quickly as possible.
5) As next screen loads, hold down-left on the d-pad until you are all the way through the screen.
6) Hold up-right as the screen loads and don't switch to up-left until you have reached the end of the curve on the wall you will eventually hit (pay close attention to the video here). Once you get half way around the circle holding up-left, simply hold left until the screen changes.
7) Hold up as the screen loads and wait just a split second before pressing up-right.
8) Challenge the card player to a game and then say no before actually starting up the game 54 times. Its painful but its the surest way to advance the RNG. If QoC is in Deling City do this 140 times.
9) Challenge him again and actually say 'yes' to playing. 'Play' the game and win.
10) You should get a Rosetta Stone. Joy.

I advise running through the path a couple times before doing an actual run. This will let you get a feel for the path in a non-consequential situation. Also I advise counting to 54 in groups of 10, or if you are like me you will mess up ^.^

Troubleshooting:
If this didn't work, and you are: following the instructions correctly, making sure you are counting to 54 correctly and are following the path I described then you may be going too slowly. This is easy to fix; go at a similar speed but instead of challenging the 200 gil player and saying no before a game starts 54 times, do it 53 times. This should work but I would recommend trying with 54 "Challenge? No"s a couple times before you change to 53 as you will probably follow the path I laid out more quickly after a few runs through.

Yes this is complicated, but it's arguably more drawn out in the explanation then it is in the execution. At this point for me a typical run takes around 5 minutes so hopefully learning the path and getting 3 Rosetta Stones wont take more than half an hour for you.

This is the earliest and quickest supply of Rosetta Stones and once you get the hang of it it's very easy to do so I wish you good luck and please tell me if you are still having problems with the strategy (or if it works perfectly for you :D).

Oh and sorry if the video seems slow. I think my PS1 is on its last legs so to speak.
