EXPLORING Historic Dirleton Village: Walking Tour of Scotland: Historic Scottish Towns

Описание к видео EXPLORING Historic Dirleton Village: Walking Tour of Scotland: Historic Scottish Towns

Dirleton is one of Scotland's prettiest conservation villages located just 3 miles from the busy seaside town of North Berwick. Traditional houses frame the large village green, and as we take this walking tour you'll notice many of them have lovely gardens. In fact, the village residents open their gardens once a year as part of Scotland's Garden Scheme and are well worth a visit.

The beautiful 400 year old church which you will see, was built in 1612 with later additions in 1650 and 1836. The stained glass window depicts St Francis and the animals.

Across the village green you glimpse Dirleton Castle behind the huge wall. This medieval castle was built in the 13th century and although now a ruin, is open to the public to explore. I made another video taking a tour of the castle gardens (which are quite impressive) and the castle itself - here is the link -    • Exploring Dirleton Castle & Gardens :...
