International Emergency Preparedness and Response Tools and Capacity Building: An IAEA GC side event

During the International Atomic Energy Agency 2022 General Conference, NNSA sponsored a side event on U.S. leadership in international emergency preparedness and response and NNSA’s close partnership with the IAEA’s Incident and Emergency Centre.

• The IEC is an indispensable partner in preparing for and responding to nuclear and radiological emergencies anywhere in the world.
• The United States bolsters IEC tools and capacity building activities through its collaboration on trainings, exercises, and responding to real-world emergencies.

Speakers include NNSA Administrator Jill Hruby, Director of the IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre Carlos Torres Vidal, NNSA Deputy Under Secretary for Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation Jay Tilden, NNSA Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Corey Hinderstein, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Anthony Wier, and Senior Advisor Kenneth Michael “Mike” Goff of the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy.
