Stop-Motion Rarities: "Ninja Hattori" (stop-motion scenes) (1966).

Описание к видео Stop-Motion Rarities: "Ninja Hattori" (stop-motion scenes) (1966).

This is a strange one. Let me tell you, this is from an episode of NINJA HATTORI. This tokusatsu (Japanese for "special effect") series is based on the manga by Fujiko F. Fujio, about a ninja sent from his land to live with a human family. Many people found some uncanny valley vibes to this series. It comes to show that some things work well in 2D animation (why do you think fans prefer the anime to the live-action show). While Ninja Hattori was portrayed by a man in a costume with a mask that has a jaw-function, stop-motion was used in various scenes. From his eyes opening and closing, done with a model built for close-ups specifically made for those scenes, to Hattori leaping in the air, going up walls, and zooming from one place to another like teleportation. The stop-motion effects were done by either Yoshiki Hirayama, the show's cinematographer, or Fumiko Magari. I think it can't be her because she was busy working on an episode of ULTRA Q back then, which is something you will see next week.
Apologies for not only the lack of info but for freaking you out like I did last week with FAT FEET.
Enjoy.
