TanBeard Plays SpongeBob SquarePants: Legend of the Lost Spatula (Gameplay)

As we kick off the Year of the Yellow Sponge marathon, I'm revisiting one of the first SpongeBob games released on the Game Boy Color during my childhood. I will dive into the gameplay section since many of you are big SpongeBob SquarePants fans. Whether or not you are already familiar with this game, you're in for a treat. You might have initially assumed that I would be playing Operation Krabby Patty, the first PC game based on the TV show, or Super Sponge, which will be featured in the following video. However, we're returning to where it all began with the Game Boy Color game. SpongeBob SquarePants: Legend of the Lost Spatula is one of those games I remember getting on my 7th birthday when there weren't any handheld games I hadn't played. Yet, I prefer consoles to enjoy without leaving the house. Granted, I used to play some handheld games on the Game Boy Color outside from my trip before the OG DS I got from 2008, but not as many as I collected them. As for the SpongeBob game, it's not a good game, and I noticed when this came out that it wasn't well-received by critics. What I found out is that Vicarious Vision developed this. The same company was known for making these licensed games, Game Boy Color versions of popular shows and sometimes on home consoles, most notably for some of the Disney games. Spectrally, they work on other great games such as the Crash Bandicoot games on the Game Boy Advance, Spider-Man 2 on PS1, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 on the home consoles, the Skylander series on smartphones, and surprisingly, they also remake the classic Crash games with N.Sane Trilogy, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2. So, maybe this will be their attempt to make a SpongeBob game, and perhaps this might be a good game, or probably not. The game isn't all that great. But really, bad? Well, let's find out.
