Acrylic Pour Painting Fluid Art Abstract Art Flip Cup Copper Cells!

Hello Friends!

Today we are playing with one of the most fun techniques in paint pouring.. the Flip and Drag!

I was cleaning and organizing my studio and realized that I have a lot of brands of paint lol So I've been trying to use more of them, rather than just my favorite Golden's. Today we are using mostly Winsor & Newton paints

My colors are:
Winsor & Newton
Winsor Blue
Deep Turquoise
Winsor Violet
Folk Art
Treasure Gold Series
Antique Copper
DecoArt Americana Decor
Metallics
24K Gold
Satin Enamels
Pure White with some
Artist's Loft
Flow Acrylic White
Pouring Medium
Liquitex Gloss
Medium & Varnish
Paint + a bit of Water
Floetrol
I'm using a 20x20 inch gallery wrapped canvas from Artists Loft.
There is no silicone in my paints.

I lay out 5 seven ounce cups, 3 across the top and 2 on the bottom.
Flipping them is so much fun!
The dragging of the cup along the edge of the paint spreads it out and because the paint is thinned it allows beautiful cells to pop thru. It's a very cool technique, and very easy way to create cells without using silicone.

Looking back, I probably should have used my 5 ounce cups instead of 7 ounce cups, there was a lot of paint left in my cups after I flipped and dragged them. I also feel like I could have thinned my paint out a little bit more, more cells probably would have popped up if the paint was a bit thinner.

I always enjoy flip cups, they almost feel like a magic trick to me 🧙‍♂️ Hey Presto! Shazam!! 💫😉

I'm super excited to show you guys this piece because of that tricky elusive Folk Art Treasure Gold Antique Copper is finally showing its Copper!! You can see several areas where there are coppery colored cells and a few areas where there are ribbons of that purpley copper.. very cool stuff!

I realize that the other paintings I have used the antique copper in have mostly been straight pours where the paint blended a lot.. for this fairly expensive craft paint it would definitely be better if you did a technique that didn't blend the colors so much if you want the coppery purple to show up. It sure is fun experimenting with it though! A layered cup would work beautifully too.

I hope you guys enjoyed this pour..I encourage you to give it a try, it's lots of fun!
