Synopsis of Film-
विपिन बाबू श्रंगार रस के रसिया है…..सुन्दर कल्पनाओं में जीते हैं…..इनकी जिन्दगी का आधार ही सौंदर्य है…..इनका मानना है कि स्त्री का असली गहना उसका सौंदर्य है…..परन्तु जब शादी होती है तो सुशील सुगृहस्थ पत्नी से निराश होते हें…..शराब, शबाब, कबाब में रम जाते हैं…..स्वास्थ्य खराब कर पैरालिसिस से ग्रसित हो चरपाई पकड़ लेते हैं….तब समझ आता है पत्नी का असली रूप बाहरी सौंदय नहीं बल्कि आत्मा की मधुरता ही असली सुन्दरता है…प्रेमचंद की कहानी "स्त्री और पुरुष".
For Vipin Babu the most beautiful thing created by God is -woman. He worships and venerates beauty. But as ill luck would have it, to his utter shock, when the sees, for the first time, his bride's face, he is completely shattered. She is the ugliest woman he has ever come across.
Vipin is implacably hurt and aggrieved. Asha is now his legally married wife. What has been done can not be undone. Asha tries her best to please him but he remains indifferent. He never comes near her and for days, stays out of his house. Though he too feels sorry for her yet he is not able to bring himself to accept such an ugly woman as his wife.
Asha loses all hopes. So aggrieved is she by his indifference towards her that she falls ill, even then Vipin Babu Doesn't relent. He has no time for his ugly wife.
Vipin falls in the quagmire of those depravities, which are bane not only to one's wealth but also to one's health. Slowly and gradully the handsome looking man turns pale and sick. After many days when Vipin returns home Asha is aghast to see her husband in such a terrible state. She rushes upto him, makes him lie down, and for the first time Vipin doesn't misbehave.
Asha forgets her sickness and failing health, she looks after him day and night, nurses him and prays to God for his well being, but in vain. Vipin suffers a serious paralytic attack, his face distorted and ugly. When Vipin regains consciousness and some strength he finds her looking after him as if he were the most handsome husband and it is then that he realizes his unpardonable sin. He weeps with repentance and now when he looks at her she appears to be the prettiest lad in the world.
