Modern Day | PvZ2 OST

Modern Day.
This is it...

Perhaps the most fanservice world in the entirety of PvZ2… Modern Day’s music contains special renditions of Grasswalk, Graze the Roof, and Zombie on Your Lawn.

I have to admit, I love this music to death just like everyone else on God’s green earth, and seeing it in the new light of the wackier, more action packed likings of PvZ2? That’s just a concoction of godly music right there. It’s such a nice balance of all the worlds throughout Grasswalk! I mean it made the most sense to do exactly this, duh!

Graze the Roof is good, but it’s not AMAZING. A lot vids of it pointing out what timelines play in it but tbh, I think it’s just doing its own thing as a reimagining of the music. Not actually implementing the individual instruments… If anything I think I’ll find myself coming back to the original, so I’ll give Laura that one...

But….

BIG But…

The final wave music dude. Holy fuck. I mean holy fuck. It’s beautiful...

It takes the banjo of the Jurassic Marsh, harmonica of Pirate Seas, Kazoo of the Dark ages (yes, it’s in there), the whirring from Far Future, the OTHER BANJO from Wild West, the theatrical brass from The Lost City, the bassoon from Frostbite Caves, the guitar from Big Wave Beach, the sitar of Egypt…

All of these instruments in this song play their part, but in a way as if they have other interests in mind, doing their own thing, but they still can’t help but collectively “sing” in harmony to achieve one goal. I would honestly give anything to get the individual instrument files to be able to tinker and make the sickest alterations to it.

I love it. I love it so much. I’ve never loved a finale song for a game as much as this. It's so unbelievably amazing I cannot express it enough. The thing with most finale songs in games, they usually tend to contain motifs here and there of previous worlds we’ve gone to, adding a few recognizable melodies that we associated with those worlds.
PvZ2 implements and to a degree, characterizes all of these INSTRUMENTS that become recognizable and associated through their respective timelines INSTEAD of a strict melody.
That allows for incredible amounts of freedom for a finale song and you know what? They could NOT have come up with a better way to utilize it to its full potential than in the Final Wave music of Modern Day… A total overhaul remix, of “Zombie on Your Lawn” that springs back to the cultural classic…

It is a piece of music that essentially speaks:
“We have come so far and ventured through so many places. It’s all come down to this. Now, it’s time for us to go back to our roots and celebrate in the chaos of all we have been through, together.”

Modern Day’s Final Wave may just be the most criminally underrated, and undermined piece of music in a mobile game I’ve ever heard.

And thus ends the Half year long journey.... I hope you all had a nice Christmas this year! I sure am! These $600 are going right into the living space we almost got evicted from! Nothing quite like living in luxury! Have a good rest of your year...
