Rachel Bolan was the bass player and co-writer of this song (and most of them...) on their first album Skid Row. He formed the band back in 1986 together with guitarist Dave Sabo.
I really like the sound, rythm and groove of the bass in this particular song.
If I may give you a recommandation on how to play it right, it would be to listen to the notes that are NOT played and be right on with the drums.
