Hello Everyone, I am back on the Cumbrian Coast Line for my latest railway video which comes from Drigg. The village is around 30 miles to the north-west of Barrow-in-Furness. The station is a request stop and I was immediately struck by the attractive setting with lovely views over to the Cumbrian fells in the distance. The original station building has been converted into a coffee and craft shop. The station itself was opened as Drigg for Wastwater by the Whitehaven and Furness Junction Railway on 19th July 1849 before being renamed as ‘Drigg’ in 1955. There is a manually controlled level crossing at the southern end of the platforms which is managed from the adjacent signal box. The inviting village of Drigg lies close to the coast with the nearby sand dunes being designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This rail line continues to inspire me with its unrivalled views of the attractive Cumbrian coast together with wonderful views of the famous fells. I hope it inspires you too.
