This recipe you will find poeple making it during Diwali. But I love this Chivda to munch in my evening snacks with a hot cup of coffee. This is my all time favourite Chivda. Homemade Chivdas are always best rather then buying the packaged ones. There are two types of chivda, one made with patal poha when it is roasted and by adding a few spices and nuts, and other Chivda is made with thick poha which is deep fried. Today I will show you the Patal Chivda Recipe which is easy and tasty, it also has a good shelf life when stored in a air tight container.

Ingredients
Sieve the poha well
500gms thin poha/पातळ पोहे (flattened rice)
50gms Raw peanut/शेंगदाणे
One whole stem of Curry Leaves/कढीपत्त्याची पाने
1tsp Turmeric/हळद
5-6 Chopped green chillies/हिरव्या मिरच्या
1tsp Mustard seeds/ मोहरी
50gm Roasted bengal gram/भाजकी डाळव
1½tsp Cumin Seeds/जिरे
1tsp Salt/मीठ
1½tsp Powdered sugar/साखर
½tsp Asafoetida (Hing/हिंग
50gm Slided dry coconut (2inchs/सुकं खोबरं
25gm Cashew nuts/काजू
3 Tbsp Oil/तेल


Lets put on the flame.
Taken a wide heavy bottom pan
Add the oil. Once hot.
Add the mustard seeds and wait till it splutters.
Add the cumin seeds and the curry leaves, let them pop up. Fry the curry leaves until they are crisp.
Add the chopped green chillies.
Add the peanuts and roast them on a meduim flame until lightly golden.
Add the roasted grams and fry them well.
Add Hing and fry well.
Add the tumeric in the pan.
Now I will add all the Patal Poha to the pan.
In another Pan add 1 tbsp oil.
Once hot roast the sliced dry coconut till they change colour and become crispy.
Add the cashews and fry till golden brown.
Add the fried coconut and the cashews in the poha.
Mix well so that the entire masala gets incorporated in the poha.
Roast the chivda on low heat for about 4-5 minutes.
If you crush them between fingers they will powder immediately.
Add the powdered sugar and salt and mix well.
Switch off the flame and and allow it to cool before storing in an air tight container. Patal Poha chivda is already.
