The African War Dance, also known as Ikpirikpi Ogu by the Ohafia people in Igboland, is a popular dance performed in several parts of Eastern Nigeria.

This version is performed by Mgbedike Masquerade troupe. This masquerade dance and song was performed in collaboration muscular men of Obinagu udi in Enugu state in commemoration of their strength in fighting and winning wars.

According to oral history, Africans of the Igbo extract were renowned to be mighty men of war who were always on the lookout for battles to take part in.

Only men who have gone for battles are permitted to perform the dance and beat the drums.

The Mgbadike dance reminiscent of celebrations after a successful battle as a victory dance to honor warriors of the African tribe.
