They Were No Better Than I

Who has seen a slave
Turn into ruler
A barren woman of age
Bearing a son
Who has heard of the sea
Parting in two
Or tearing up a lion
With one’s bare hands
How can a boy defeat
A mighty man of war
Sun and moon obey
The voice of a man
How could fire come down
When Elijah prayed
Or Daniel survive
Inside the lion’s den

They were no better than I
I am not worse than they
If I will sacrifice
The word of God obey
The Lord will deal with me
Just as He dealt with them
Then I will shout and say
God is the same today

Even by his shadow
Peter healed the sick
And Paul by his aprons
Made demons flee
The Lord Jesus said
If you only believe
You will do great things
Greater even than these
