The Fayetteville Police Department Physical Abilities test is designed to evaluate the physical ability of the individual to perform the essential functions of the job of a Fayetteville Police Officer. The test consists of the following:

Successfully complete the following activities in 4 minutes and 30 seconds (4:30)
Four laps of the obstacle course (approximately 70 yards per lap) and on each lap:
Climb over a 4-foot chain link fence
Clear a jump distance of 5 feet
Climb 5 stair steps up and 5 stair steps down
Jump over two 18-inch high hurdles
Pull on the rope of the physical control simulator (PCS) loaded with 80 lbs. to lift the weight off of its rest and, while keeping the weight up, move through six 180-degree arcs around the PCS.
Six down and up movements to the floor similar to a “burpee” alternating front to back )3 of each) with the chest and hips touching the floor in the front positions and the participant's shoulder blades, hips, and heels touching the floor in the back position.
Push the 80 lbs. of resistance on the PCS off its rest and move through six 180-degree arcs around the PCS without dropping the weight.

Within 30 seconds after completion of the timed events above, the participant must begin the following untimed activities:
Grab a 100lbs torso bag by the loose material on the top edges of the bag;
Lift and maintain at a height where the bottom of the bag is above the participant's knees with the elbows bent; and
Once lifted, the participant will walk around the cone and back, placing the torso bag gently on the floor.
