WHS Regional Meeting 2024 - Trans-continental collaboration for global health

This session will help explore the role of trans-continental cooperation in global health. It will showcase how trans-continental collaboration can help specifically improve the health of people around the world with a special focus on Asia and the Pacific. It will also discuss examples of successful and learning partnerships as models of trans-continental collaboration either from global or regional experience. Case studies like the current Pandemic Treaty, impact of COVID-19 and the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control may be discussed.

This session will bring key leaders (representing different constituencies and perspectives) together to reflect on the major lessons in collaboration from global and regional events, and to continue a high-level dialogue and probe the global health community on important solutions. This session will identify responses to the following guiding questions:

What are key global health issues that require a trans-continental approach for solutions?

How can trans-continental cooperation promote sustainable solutions for major global health issues?

How can partners in the public and private sector work for a more equitable and inclusive global health order through trans-continental collaboration?
