Nightmares on the 451 Big Block Mopar Stroker! But have we found the issue? At "Uncle Bob" McVay's

As you hopefully saw in the previous video we have 73ChargerChic's big block Mopar on the dyno at "Uncle Bob McVay's" in order to finally sort out the issues we have been having since this motor was built for us. Fortunately we have someone in our corner willing to take on this nightmare of a motor even though he wasn't involved at all in its creation.

A little bit of back story on this motor to help everyone further understand what we have here and what's going on. The block is a 400 "B" series Mopar big block, think the final generation of the legendary 383 big blocks just bored a little bit further in the malaise era. Stuffed into that 1976 400 block is the crank and rods from a muscle car era 440, cut down to fit inside the 400 journals giving us a lighter rotating assembly than any big block Mopar saw. Topping these old school parts are a set of ICON forged pistons. Total displacement comes out to 451ci with this setup. The top end we have a set of "Motorhome Heads" casting number 3751213 that have been entirely rebuilt by our previous engine builder. While not the best heads available for big block Mopars they SHOULD be able to flow enough air to make some pretty decent power, at least better than we are seeing now.

So WHY is this thing on an engine dyno again? Well the short short version is, it's never run correctly since it was first fired up. Our previous engine builder couldn't/wouldn't figure out the issue so we were left with something we knew had issues that has sat around in the shop for about a year and a half. Fortunately for us, through our Street Racing Channel / SRC Garage connections we met "Uncle Bob" and he agreed to help is figure out just what in the WORLD is going on with this motor! In the previous video here as well as in her playlist you can see the motor getting to about 4200-4300 RPM and just refusing to rev or make power any further. Unfortunately fingers were pointed in all sorts of directions as to what the issue was and there was never a solution found. That's where Bob McVay comes in!

What you'll see in this video is us trying to diagnose just what exactly is the failure here. Is the Edelbrock Performer 383 intake just not able to flow enough air? Do the heads just not have enough CFM? Are we running into some sort of ignition break up? Is this a cam or cam timing issue? Is compression somehow causing this?

We dive into all these issues and finally start finding some answers to our issues! So 2 steps backwards before we can start taking steps forward but at least we finally know just WHAT exactly is going on here with this nightmare of a motor build.
