Hooked up to a Large Nova Scotia Salmon

September 30, 2018. A much-needed rain pushed a fresh run upriver. As luck would have it I hooked into my first Nova Scotia salmon first pass through the pool that day. After fishing hard in fall 2016 to no avail, and being unable to fish in 2017, I was beyond stoked to seal the deal. As I was fishing alone, I didn't get a great photo to commemorate the moment. With the memory in the vault, I kept fishing. Luck struck me again about a half-hour later when I rose a salmon in the tail out of the pool. One more cast, one more rise. A third cast, and he hit. Set the hook and we were dancing. As I negotiated to bring my catch to hand, some passing by fishermen on the bridge noted my bent-over rod and came to investigate. They arrived just as I tailed this beautiful fresh buck, and were able to snap a pic for me! A big shoutout to these two gents. We exchanged stories, flies, and then parted ways. Forever grateful that it all came together on this fine day.
