Saint John the Dwarf | Stories of Saints

Saint John the Dwarf, also known as John Colobos or John the Short, was an early Christian Desert Father in Egypt during the 4th century. Despite his small stature, he possessed immense spiritual wisdom and humility. He lived a life of extreme asceticism in the desert, practicing fasting, prayer, and manual labor. Renowned for his simplicity and obedience, he attracted many disciples seeking spiritual guidance.

His sayings and teachings were later collected in the "Sayings of the Desert Fathers." Saint John the Dwarf is revered as a model of monastic virtue and a pillar of the Desert Fathers tradition. His feast day is celebrated on October 17 in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He continues to inspire Christians with his example of self-denial, humility, and devotion to God.
