Blacking and zinc plating a narrowboat hull

Описание к видео Blacking and zinc plating a narrowboat hull

My gorgeous narrowboat, elektra is coming up for three years old and therefore it was time to consider "blacking". This is the process of applying a protective layer to the hull to prevent rust. It used to be a bitumen based paint but there are now better options. One of these is to have the hull zinc plated and then painted with two pack paint. This protects the hull for ten years or more.
There is currently only one boatyard in the UK that is equipped to undertake this work, Debdale Wharf Marina, near Market Harborough.
It takes a week for the work to be done and costs around £8,000 (the exact cost depends on the length and width of your boat).

More information about my boat and photographs at https://www.pink-narrowboat.com - also find out about Hope and Homes for Children (my favourite charity). I donate all the income from the channel to Hope and Homes for Children who continue to do amazing work freeing children from institutional care into loving families. https://www.hopeandhomes.org/what-we-do So, please get your friends and relatives to subscribe to the channel. It costs nothing and just means you are a little more likely to get my videos shown in your "recommended" list. If you want to be notified when I upload a new video, click on the notifications bell icon, again it costs nothing.
