Bam Adebayo - Point Center 19/20

Описание к видео Bam Adebayo - Point Center 19/20

Bam Adebayo. 2020 All Star. Simply put: there is NOTHING Bam Adebayo cannot do. Adebayo is as fearless as a competitor can come. He’s a ferocious finisher, a relentless rebounder, a proficient playmaker, a dynamic defender, and as lionhearted a leader as Miami has ever had. His value for the Heat is without compare and he’s having a career numbers across the board (without having missed a single game) this year. 16.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game while largely playing as a Point Center. His decision making is definitely going to improve as he continues to handle the ball, but Eric Spoelstra has clearly given him the keys to Miami's offense.

You know you have someone special when a seasoned coach like Spo says: “he is the strongest guy we’ve ever had, and as ferocious a competitor as has ever been through these halls.”

To watch Bam play is a privilege. To watch Adebayo get to make plays is a pleasure. He’s nowhere near where he’s likely going to end up given his incredible work ethic, but the flashes of incredible potential are starting to become more and more common. This is one of the most common sights in a Miami game: Bam bruises and bangs with bigs under the basket and forcefully grabs a board, he’ll motion to let his teammates know which side he’s attacking at and he’ll push pace with the ball into an early DHO. Miami’s shooters are good enough that Bam’s bulk and clever body angle mean that DHO is an almost automatic triple. If the shot doesn’t go up, it’ll flow into that signature Spo east to west attack. Constant side to side action, never stopping. Bam is either setting a screen or on the elbow orchestrating. Miami is starting to get mesmerizing when Bam is running the show. His college teammate De’Aaron Fox is quoted in Zach Lowe’s TREMENDOUS piece about Bam (link below) as saying that “he wanted to be a guard so badly” and it really really shows.

Right now, he sits with a top 12 ranking in the Value Over Replacement Player category, tied with 2x Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert and ahead of the likes of budding MEGAstar Jayson Tatum, and fellow All-Stars Karl-Anthony Towns, Domantas Sabonis, Ben Simmons, Kemba Walker, and Khris Middleton. Bam is 8th in the league in rebounds per game and in the top 15 in blocks per game.

He’s also top 12 in the league in Field Goal Percentage; ahead of reigning Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo, top 5 in MVP voting in 18/19 Nikola Jokic, and former All-Stars Andre Drummond and DeMar DeRozan.

Win shares are not something I completely understand but Bam is tied with Kawhi Leonard and Bradley Beal in terms of Offensive Win Shares, better than LeBron James, Tatum, Sabonis, Jokic, Pascal Siakam, Simmons, and Kawhi. In terms of overall Win Shares, he is tied with the likes of Luka Doncic and Chris Paul.

Beginning at 9:09, Miami's not-so secret weapon is heavily featured: Bam on the push hitting their shooters with early DHOs.
