Creepypasta's are awesome.
Gaming is awesome.
Gaming Creepypasta's are uber-awesome.

While I think that there are still many very high quality Creepypasta's being written and released into the wild, I don't think that there will be a period for the fanbase as there was from around 2013-2015.
Now many of my personal favorites are from this era, such as The Showers or The Harbinger Experiment.
Various texts of interchangeable levels of quality that hold a special place in my spooky heart.
This being said, this era of Creepypasta is not known for these stories, but rather more "recognizable" ones.

Like it or not, this was the true creation of the equivalent of what anyone who searches for Creepypasta's will likely see or witness first.
We got Jeff, Jane, Jack, another Jack, Smile Dog, Slenderman, The Rake, Ben Drowned, a few Experiments here and there.
I've noticed from some fellow members of the community that they look upon stories such as these with distain.
While they were popular, many seem to believe that the quality of writing in many of them was not a good standard, and thus should not be held in such high regard.

One of the most popular Creepypasta's, that without a doubt got some of the most distain when it came to quality of writing was Sonic.exe.
Personally, I'm more so on the side that isn't too blown away from the writing.
I wouldn't say it's amazing or magnificent, it's just kinda ok in the sense that it gets its point across with "varying success."
This being said however, I 1000% understand why it became as popular as it did.

Firstly, it came out essentially during the prime of both Creepypasta's in general as well as one centered around gaming.
Secondly, there were many games made to replicate and to continue on with the stories, which were covered by a multitude of content creators at the time, who were also mostly within their prime.
Thirdly, it revolved around Sonic which both now and especially online at the time of its release, Sonic is awesome so it had that going for it as well.

At the end of the day, whether you like or dislike the story or anything to due with the character, we both have to agree that its impact on both Creepypasta's as well as "horror gaming" per say has been rather substantial given its history online.
