Akron, Ohio...WOW! High in violent crime with an unreal poverty level, this city is giving Cleveland a run for its money. This Rust Belt city has been on the decline for quite some time now, and a recovery doesn't look like it'll be happening any time soon. There's a lot of vacant houses, empty commercial buildings, and rough areas. The population has been steadily dropping for decades and good jobs are hard to come by. People are simply choosing to leave and find a better opportunity elsewhere. On the upside, the amenities are excellent, housing prices are decent, and overall cost of living is better than average.
