Old Homestead Site in Goethe State Forest

Out here in Goethe State Forest exploring the woods, so much to see here in this wilderness. I went off the beaten path and discovered where a possible homestead site may have existed here in the past. I could observe some overgrown pathways around the area probably old roads used to get out here at one time. It’s nice to follow them to see where they lead. Along the way I discovered what an appears to be an old cistern or well. Used a water source here at the homestead. The area may have been used for different purposes in the past. Goethe State Forest is a great place to roam with an array of recreational opportunities for everyone to enjoy. I really enjoy exploring here, learning and discovering about the past while taking in the surrounding nature.
